Great Yarmouth Racing

Great Yarmouth is one the UK’s most popular seaside resorts and has been for more than two centuries. The Golden Mile promenade of entertainment and attractions certainly draws the crowds as does the beach activities and the shopping and historic attractions in the town. The town also forms a gateway to the beautiful rural splendour of the Norfolk Broads and so is a perennially popular visitor destination. What the town also offers visitors is a superb racecourse and Great Yarmouth racing is of a quality usually found in the more famous courses in the country.

Great Yarmouth Racing, inside rail The reason Great Yarmouth attracts the best horses and trainers has much to do with the location too. Situated just 70 miles from the nerve centre of British horseracing, Newmarket, the course provides an excellent and convenient proving ground for the two year olds which show the greatest potential. Ouija Board and Punctilious are prime examples and both achieved success at Yarmouth, first time out, in 2003. The tag of ‘Newmarket-on-Sea’ has stuck and defines Great Yarmouth racing as of a very high quality indeed.

The prospect of viewing some first class racing certainly draws the keen and knowledgeable racegoers to Great Yarmouth and as a premier holiday destination, families and holidaymakers are also guaranteed a great day out at the races.

With a new grandstand, opened in 2004, and a good selection of drinks, dining, and hospitality opportunities on offer, a memorable raceday is in store for all.

A narrow, oval, flat track with a circumference of one mile and five furlongs, the course at Great Yarmouth is best suited to the type of long striding gallopers which make for exciting races in the flat season. The flagship meeting at Yarmouth is a September three day event, the Eastern Meeting, with the highlight of the meeting being the mile and a quarter John Musker Stakes.

The Eastern Meeting represents just one of the 24 fixtures held throughout the flat season, some of which are specifically tailored for the casual racegoer, including family fun days and evening meetings, where admission includes some live entertainment after the racing has finished.

Access to a Children’s Adventure Playground and Family Lawns is available to all with tickets for either the Premier Enclosure or Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure.

Grandstand ticket holders can enjoy a selection of drinks, dining and betting outlets, terraced viewing within two stands and access to the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure.

Those with Premier Enclosure tickets can access all the facilities within the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure and can enjoy the additional benefits of Premier facilities, which include superb course viewing from the Lord Nelson Stand, or from the Trafalgar Restaurant, in which a classic raceday experience is assured via the great views, the elegant, sophisticated environment and first class dining.

Premier Enclosure bars offer some great environments too, from the stylish ambience of the Hoops Champagne Bar to the Victory Bar, which provides access to the patio and Premier Enclosure Lawn, by the Winners Enclosure and Parade Ring. Whether for champagne to toast your successes or afternoon tea to enjoy on the lawn, the Premier Enclosure is for those who appreciate the finer aspects of hospitality so ingrained in the culture of horseracing.

Great Yarmouth Racing, photo finish Tickets for the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure cost £13.00 for standard raceday events and £16 for the special fixtures. A Premier badge starts at £20.00 and £23 for the special racedays. Discounts and concessions are available including a 20% discount applicable for advance group booking of 15 or more people. Free admission applies to children under 16 when accompanied by an adult and with ample free parking too, Great Yarmouth racing is accessible to all for a superb family day out as a part of their seaside or Norfolk Broads holiday.

For those who are new to racing a package deal may be the best option for getting the most from the day. Great Yarmouth is renowned for having a friendly atmosphere and the hospitality packages available ensure visitors have fun without wondering how to go about placing a bet or enjoying the facilities on offer.

For £22.00 the Fancy a Flutter package is available and this comprises a ticket for the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure, welcome drink, raceday programme with all the essential information required for the day, a burger, and a Tote betting voucher for £2.

The Classic Raceday Package offers a high end racing alternative where £33.00 buys a ticket to the Premier enclosure, welcome drink, raceday programme, afternoon tea, a £5 Tote betting voucher, and an exclusive behind the scenes racecourse tour. Additional group packages cater for stag and hen parties and cost £45 per head with the stag or hen enjoying all the hospitality and services on offer for free.

Combining corporate hospitality with Great Yarmouth racing is a great idea for a variety of business and corporate events. The social atmosphere puts everyone at ease and the thrill of the races gives plenty of scope for adding fun and excitement to the social and business-oriented networking. There are no fewer than nine outstanding hospitality suites contained within the new Grandstand with additional options of the Centre Course suites, which are contained within two marquees.

The centre course suites and marquees provide a truly unique and elegant backdrop to any business or private celebration and provide a vantage point for Great Yarmouth racing which places guests at the heart of all the raceday action.
